Ilma

Ilma is a 10-year-old student in 3rd grade who lives with her mom and her brothers. She has four siblings, three older brothers and one younger brother. At home, she sometimes helps by washing the dishes.

In school, Ilma’s favorite subject is English because her dad tells her it can help her go with her Aunt Ruth to sell traditional clothing. She hopes to become the president of Guatemala one day. Her favorite food is lasagna, and in her free time she enjoys reading action books. Ilma is good at playing soccer and would like to improve by helping people more. Coming to school to study and spend time with her classmates makes her feel happy and hopeful. She is thankful because she opened her eyes today and is able to breathe.
