Alison
Alison is a 13-year-old student in 8th grade who lives with her grandparents, her mother, and her two younger sisters. As the oldest sibling, she helps in many ways at home. She is learning how to weave, works as a barista, and helps clean the house.
In school, Alison especially enjoys natural sciences because she likes learning about nature, social studies because she wants to understand what is happening in the world, and English because she is learning another language and wants to gain more knowledge. In her free time, she enjoys painting, weaving, and listening to music, and her favorite food is lasagna. Alison dreams of becoming the president of Guatemala because she believes her country needs intelligent leadership and wise decision-making. She says that reflecting on the death of Jesus Christ gives her hope, along with spending time with family and friends and having quiet time alone. Alison works hard, especially on difficult tasks, but she would like to improve by learning to do things more quickly, since she sometimes feels she takes too long. She is thankful for the opportunity to study and for having food to eat.
