Karen

Karen is a 10-year-old student in 3rd grade who lives with her mom, her brothers and sisters, her grandparents, her uncles, and a little cousin. She has three younger siblings and helps care for them. At home, she sweeps her room and takes care of her brothers and sisters.

At school, Karen’s favorite subject is Math because she is learning how to subtract and multiply. She hopes to become a police officer when she grows up. Her favorite food is pepián, a traditional Guatemalan dish. In her free time, she enjoys doing her homework and playing. She is good at drawing and would like to improve by understanding better and paying closer attention when her mom speaks to her. She feels happy because her birthday is coming soon. Today, she is thankful for her teacher, Ms. Melissa, who teaches her how to read, subtract, and add.
